Quarantine Thoughts

Wow! If you would have told me at the end of January I would be sitting in Mississippi 13 weeks later, I would probably laugh in your face and go on.
It's amazing to watch world events and see how different countries handle the situations. In a way, I and a few of the people I work with have experienced some form of PTSD. We experienced it in China and we have experienced it where we are now.
Learning to survive in our new normal is a challenge, and we ask questions: "Will we return to normal?" "Is this our new normal?"
For me, I have been spending more time in the kitchen recalling experiences I had from a young age with my Grandmother. My first memories of cooking come from being in the kitchen of my maternal grandmother. She was no stranger to the kitchen, having taught Home Economics for around 40 years. It was from her I learned how to make a camel cake the real way and if something went wrong you just improvised your way around it.
I have also began working on two rather large undertakings. They are both cookbooks. One cookbook is a family cookbook and the other is one of my own recipes, things I learned from my grandmother, and world experiences.
As I have made recipes and posted pictures on Facebook, many have asked for recipes. To share more of my experiences, I have decided to start sharing a few recipes I have created from food I have eaten on my travels here on my blog.
As time progresses, I hope to present a different experience than just pictures and reading. Cooking and eating dishes can teach us many things about cultures and life. I hope you join me on this experience!
