What drives us as humankind to search and look for better things? It it the hope of a better future? Is it the hope for a better self?

No matter what we do, we are always chased by the fear of the unknown. It's amazing how so many great things have come from the unknown. The most common question I have gotten before my adventure to live and work in China is, "Are you not afraid?"

Being afraid is a very human response. Almost all of us are afraid of something. I remember a day in my 7th grade english class where we had to write down one thing we were afraid of and why. I remember debating what I was most afraid of. After a few minutes of debating, I settled on walking down the hill to our shop at night. When questioned about my reason, "I have to run down the hill and back up again so I don't get bit by bats," I quipped.

Our fears are relative to us as people. We can be afraid, but we can't not do something because we are afraid. If we decide to not do anything because we are afraid, then we will never grow in our life. I remember always hearing "you never grow in your comfort zone" many times in my life!

Am I afraid? In short, yes. But will that stop me? No!
